AUTO TOUR OF THE HISTORIC VIRGINIA TURNPIKE

Introduction

This private docent-led tour, on the actual turnpike which still has some of its original stacked-rock walls, will include a brief history of the families that helped make this one of the busiest and most important routes into the Gold Fields. The slow, half mile drive will begin at the Kneebone Family Cemetery on old Pleasant Valley Road, then continue past the historic barn and buildings, and to the South Entrance of the Covered Bridge (but not on the treasured bridge). There, individuals and their vehicles will have ample time for picture taking.

This tour is given to groups of 5 or more. Tours must be scheduled in advance for times other than Saturday or Sunday afternoons. The cost will be $5.00 per vehicle and will require a $25.00 non-refundable deposit. To schedule a tour or obtain more information, please contact:
